Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Jr., "Little E", The Dominator
2 time Busch Grand National Champion and Rising Star in Winston Cup!

Career Statistics

Being in his first full year of Winston Cup Racing, Dale Jr. has already racked up some pretty respectable stats!
Arriving in Winston Cup racing with much fanfare over his huge sponsor, Budweiser and of course on the heels of his father's reputation, Jr. is already a 2 time BGN champion!

7 races into the season, in his 12th Winston Cup start Jr wins Texas, one of his favorite tracks and the site of his first victory in the BGN.

3 races later he wins the Richmond night race in dramatic fashion, quite surprising everyone!

The following week in the non-points race of the Winston, Jr wins again, the only ROOKIE ever to have won the Winston!

Since then Lady Luck has taken her toll in delivering a little adversity to Jr's season, but as everyone knows, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, so we Jr fans can only look forward to what the 2001 season has in store for Dale Jr.

Jr's "dues"

Every young driver needs to pay his dues to learn the ropes and season into a respectable driver. Jr's been paying his for a while and this season in particular seems those "dues" may have cost him the Rookie of the Year status!

Jr's "Battles"

A great rivalry and friendship grew out of the BGN between Jr and Matt Kenseth, who finished 2nd to Jr last year but this year appears set to achieve the Rookie of the Year honors. And of course, racing "Daddy" is the ultimate wish come true!

Does it get any better than this?
Drive for your dad and race against him, too!

Jr and his Dad

A great article by Dale Jr about his Dad:
This is a heartfelt tribute to an incredible Man from an incredible son!

The 2001 Season opened with Dale Jr and his dad running the 24hrs of Daytona together and loving the time together, a time and experience that would become more special than they could have imagined possible.
Dale Jr ran exceptionally well in the Bud Shootout and the his Twin 125 and then in the Daytona 500, placed 2nd to teammate Michael Waltrip, as his father died in a crash in turn 4.
The unspeakable, unimaginable happened.

Life would never be the same again. Dale Jr was transformed from the young man under the protective wings of his dad, to the responsible, well-spoken and extremely mature young man we watch today. Grief isn't particular whom it visits but Jr is particularly good about handling his grief during a time few would have dealt with as well as he has.
May God continue to bless this young man and may we be the fortunate fans to watch him grow in the sport we all love.
Jr's quote in recent interview with DW: "I think about Dad all the time, and it seems like there are good days and bad days. Just when you think you're beginning to feel better about it, you'll hit a bump in the road where you can't think about anything else....But it's not such a bad thing because I like to think about him often."

Dale Earnhardt Jr wins the Pepsi 400, on July 7, 2001!!

The best day of his life since losing his dad! The best day of his dad's fans since losing him, too!

There's nothing worst than the jaded speculation and cruel insinuations even when made in the "heat of a moment" or the disappointment of a poor personal performance such as we witnessed after the wonderful win by Dale Jr in Daytona! I thought Dale's death was NASCAR's darkest hour but trashing his son, his name, his legacy takes that dishonor instead.
No one came to Daytona with more emotional investment than Dale Jr and no one came with more determination to do his best and celebrate in his father's shadow. We fans have stooped to new lows when we tear something apart that is simply fantastic and can't accept the best that has come out of a terrible event!
So all the apologies have been made, the "out of context" excuses declared but nonetheless, some drivers slipped a few notches on my ladder of respect for succumbing to this idle ridiculous discussion.
